We are proud this week to have supported our client George Leslie with this prestigious project to replace a 130-year-old bridge at Milngavie Reservoirs, East Dunbartonshire on behalf of Scottish Water.
The significance of this pivotal moment is part of the plan to upgrade key infrastructure at the reservoirs, which supply drinking water to over 700,000 customers in Greater Glasgow.
The historic Craigmaddie Valve Tower Bridge was in desperate need of a make-over but, due to its listed building status, it had to be replaced with an exact replica bridge which was designed in-house and manufactured at our Wigan production facility.
Built in the 19th century, the site has huge historic significance and attracts over 160,000 visitors per year.
Access and Logistics was a challenge with the sites steep hills and tricky terrain, as part of the project we supplied & installed a Temporary bridge to ensure that key underground infrastructure was protected at all time from the crane & heavy plant.
