Pryor Technologies, a world leader in the manufacture and design of both traditional and innovative marking, identification and traceability solutions, is this year celebrating a milestone that few companies achieve: its 175th birthday.
On 30th May, Pryor's head office in Sheffield welcomed industry leaders, employees, and special guests for an anniversary Open Day event. Highlighting this occasion was a visit and speech by John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain since 2015.
John Pearce’s presence underscored Pryor’s significance in British manufacturing. A valued member of the Made in Britain community of more than 2,050 member companies, Pryor’s journey is one of resilience, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to quality – traits Pearce emphasised in his inspiring speech.
Pryor was founded in 1849 in Sheffield. The company’s commitment to combining heritage with cutting-edge technology has kept it at the forefront of industry. “Innovation has always been at the heart of Pryor’s success,” Pearce said in an address that focused on the theme of longevity in leadership.
Pearce also touched on Pryor’s agility in navigating economic and technological shifts. From pioneering interchange type tools in 1940 to launching the first all-in-one battery-powered dot marking machine, the Touch, in 2021, Pryor has consistently demonstrated an ability to pivot and adapt.
Collaboration and a global outlook were other key themes in Pearce’s speech. He praised Pryor’s extensive international network of subsidiaries and distributors as a testament to the quality and reliability of British manufacturing.
“The companies that survive and thrive are those that are always seeking new opportunities,” Pearce concluded, encouraging the audience to draw inspiration from Pryor's remarkable legacy and continue championing the values that support British manufacturing.
