DENNISTOUN LIBRARY - Glasgow

Creating the right aesthetics in a library, with the correct light levels, is just as important to create the right atmosphere for reading as it is for all the other services on offer.

This was no different at Dennistoun Library. Situated in an original Carnegie building opened in 1905, it offers various services and activities in relaxing and inspiring surroundings. The library has thousands of books and a programme of weekly classes and events.

Dennistoun Library is one of many facilities run by Glasgow Life.

Glasgow Life is a charity set up to benefit everyone in the city. It was created to improve people’s mental and physical wellbeing through culture and sport, as well as support the city’s visitor economy and enhance its reputation as a great place to live, work, learn, and visit. It generates funds through culture and sport programmes, which are then re-invested in the charitable activities which support its vision.

Dennistoun Library wanted to upgrade to LED lighting from its inefficient existing lighting. With Dextra already working with Glasgow Life and contractor City Building LLP on upgrading lighting in some of its other buildings, it was the perfect choice for the library project.
