At Dextra Group we firmly believe that access to accurate information about the environmental impact of our business is key to meeting our net zero goals. With detailed information at hand, we can ensure that the decisions we take as a business are targeted, effective and rapid, ensuring that we reduce our carbon footprint as far and fast as possible.
Continuing with this ethos we have undertaken an assessment of every product in our range using CIBSE’s TM65 Embodied Carbon in Building Services methodology. Whilst some of our competition have adopted a broader approach, we undertook the task of calculating the embodied carbon at a product SKU level, providing us and our clients with the most accurate picture possible of exactly how much carbon is present in every product we manufacture, no matter how minor the variation.
As a result, the project that we started around a year ago has created embodied carbon certificates for around 20,000 products, with procedures implemented that will ensure certificates are created for all future product developments, for both standard and project specific special luminaires, gear trays and upgrade kits.
This is a very proactive step forward for the company in line with our sustainable manufacturing goals.
