John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain since 2015, was invited to take part in a high-level manufacturing panel organised by the Liberal Democrats Business Network (LDBN) on 28th February to discuss the UK’s future as a manufacturing nation.
The UK is currently the ninth-largest manufacturing nation in the world. The LDBN organised the panel discussion to explore how to bolster the manufacturing sector and propel the UK higher up the global table – including addressing the growing calls for an updated Industrial Strategy for the UK.
Panel members at the event were:
- John Pearce, Made in Britain CEO
- Lord Chris Fox, Liberal Democrats Spokesperson for Business
- Laura McBrown, Managing Director of G&B Electronics
- Seamus Nevin, Chief Economist at Make UK
“Any new UK Industrial Strategy needs to be assembled through open and honest dialogue with business. Priorities and targets must be based on careful examination of evidence produced by the manufacturing sector and other relevant sectors of industry – rather than imposed top-down – so that the strategy stands as something that our sector, and the public at large, can believe in and help to deliver,” said Made in Britain CEO John Pearce (pictured, left).
Made in Britain’s participation in this event follows the organisation’s engagement with the Liberal Democrats at its Party Conference in Bournemouth last September. Made in Britain attended all three 2023 Autumn Party Conferences.
