Licences required to export PPE

THE government has announced that any company wishing to export personal protective equipment (PPE) beyond Europe will now need an export licence. The move is designed to protect the supplies of PPE in the UK that are under pressure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Goods affected include the following kinds of products which provide the wearer with protection against potentially infectious material:

• protective spectacles and visors
• face shields
• mouth-nose protection equipment
• protective garments
• protective gloves

Any business wishing to export these products to territories beyond the EU and EFTA should seek further information here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-protective-equipment-ppe-export-control-process
