On 12 November, Made in Britain delivered an online session inviting two Made in Britain members, Roman Ltd and Tensor plc, to discuss their experiences and journeys in successfully exporting to the Asia Pacific region.
The session also included participation from the UK Department for Business and Trade’s Asia Pacific team, who provided support, advice, and insights on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). This trade agreement opens significant opportunities for UK exporters in key markets, including Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
This online session took place just weeks before the UK’s official entry into the CPTPP on 15 December 2024 and was organised in combination with International Trade Week.
The CPTPP represents one of the world’s largest free trade areas, covering nearly 600 million people across five continents. As a comprehensive trade agreement, it not only reduces tariffs on goods but also promotes strong economic ties among member nations. For UK businesses, joining the CPTPP means greater access to diverse and fast-growing markets, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, which is known for its dynamic economies and demand for high-quality British goods. The agreement is set to enhance export opportunities and strengthen the UK’s economic ties with this influential region.
The Asia Pacific region holds vast potential for UK businesses, with total UK-Asia Pacific trade valued at £120.5 billion. With a growing population and a strong trade and investment relationship, this region offers significant opportunities for UK exporters.
Made in Britain recognises the value of businesses talking with their peers, and this session facilitated that for UK exporters wanting to hear real, practical examples, directly from the exporters themselves. Whether it’s an exporter venturing into the Asia Pacific region for the first time or one with extensive experience in the market, this session provided valuable insights.
Circa 85 companies registered for the session to listen, discuss, and ask questions.
