Midstream Lighting joins The Climate Pledge – co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism – to help tackle climate change

Midstream Lighting, a world leader in energy-efficient LED lighting technology, is proud to announce it has signed The Climate Pledge.

The Climate Pledge was co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019. It is a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 – 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. Other companies that have already signed up to the Pledge include PepsiCo, Colgate-Palmolive, Visa, and many more.

Asked why Midstream Lighting has joined The Climate Pledge Yuli Grig, Commercial Director & Co-founder of the company said: ‘I strongly believe small, fast-growing companies such as Midstream are vital to helping make The Climate Pledge’s vision succeed. This cannot happen without the commitment and involvement of companies like Midstream that are at the cutting edge of energy reduction technologies.’

He goes on to say: ‘As a small but rapidly expanding business manufacturing energy-efficient high-power LED floodlighting for Airports, Ports, Sports Facilities, and Commercial Greenhouses, the very core of our offering and values are anchored around energy use reduction and sustainability. Counting major facilities in 50+ counties as our clients, one of our missions is to increase the level of knowledge and information surrounding sustainability and climate change.’

‘Our proprietary technology has been proven, time and time again, to dramatically reduce the energy our clients use for lighting – by up to 70%. Given that lighting, particularly industrial lighting, is a huge contributor to greenhouse emissions, by working with other signatories to The Climate Pledge we can truly help make its vision a reality.’

All organisations taking part in The Climate Pledge, commit to:

  • Measuring and reporting their greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis
  • Implementing decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business change and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies
  • Take actions to neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040
