MP Jack Rankin visits Imperial Polythene to champion UK manufacturing

Slough, Friday 5 September 2025 – Imperial Polythene welcomed a special visit from local MP Jack Rankin.  The visit highlighted the importance of UK manufacturing, the challenges faced by the plastics industry and the innovation driving Imperial’s success.

During the tour of the site, Mr. Rankin learned more about the end-to-end production process – from raw materials through to the finished product. He also heard first-hand from James Taylor, Sustainability Manager at Imperial Polythene, about the concerns currently impacting UK manufacturers, including competitiveness, sustainability and the need for continued investment in local industry. Imperial Polythene’s trade body, the British Plastics Federation (BPF) was also present at the meeting and Harriet Dyball from the BPF,  outlined industry’s 3 key policy request asks for the government.

Imperial Polythene has been operating for over 30 years and is a leading producer of polythene bags and packaging solutions. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase not only Imperial’s high-quality products but also the company’s commitment to British manufacturing and its workforce.
