Made in Britain has been raising awareness for British manufacturers at this year’s Labour Party Conference to liaise with MPs, cabinet ministers and government representatives.
Throughout the conference, we discussed the challenges and opportunities facing Britain’s manufacturing sector with key decision-makers and policy-makers.
The five-day event, held at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre between September 27th and October 1st, brought together thousands of delegates, representatives and members of the Labour Party, as well as businesses, charities and organisations that are contributing to the national infrastructure.
Made in Britain had a trade stand at the Exhibition Centre, and met with various political figures within the Labour Party to share the Made in Britain message, champion the values of our 2,200 members, and amplify the impact of our official registered trademark, utilised on hundreds of thousands of products across the country.
Labour MPs who came to see what Made in Britain is all about included Jacob Collier MP, former Minister of Defence Maria Eagle MP, Marie Tidball MP, former Under-Secretary of State for Wales and Equalities, Nia Griffith MP, and Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle MP.
Delegates were invited to look at the innovative Quantum Pushbutton Syphon, made by one of our members, Thomas Dudley, as an example of the ways in which British manufacturing can solve real-world problems in day-to-day life.
John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain (pictured), said: “As the trade body that represents over 2,200 businesses at the heart and soul of British manufacturing, we all take great pride and responsibility in delivering the best outcomes for our members, and for the industry as a whole. Given the constituency-wide presence and enormous social and economic value of our members, literally all over the United Kingdom, it was fantastic to connect with so many MPs to tell them all about the work that goes into making the British productive economy as strong as it is today.
“A key element of Made in Britain’s impact comes from an open and honest dialogue with government officials, policy makers and all the key stakeholders involved, to put British manufacturing at the forefront of everyone’s agenda - attendance at the party conferences like this goes a long way towards championing our message to the right people when it really matters.”
This visit forms part of our 2025 national tour across significant political conferences and manufacturing events up and down the country. It began at the UK Metals Expo in early September, before we attended the Liberal Democrat Party conference in Bournemouth, followed by a marking of Make UK’s National Manufacturing Day on September 25th, and the Labour conference in Liverpool.
Moving into October, we attended the Conservative Party conference between 5th-8th October, then moved on to the Sustainable Trade Expo and the Advanced Engineering Show in London and Birmingham, respectively. Our national tour ends with the Made in Britain Impact Awards on November 5th, where we will celebrate and recognise the resilience, innovation and successes of our 2,200 members in a special day at Worcester’s Bank House Hotel.
