Wrights Plastics were delighted to welcome a group of future product designers to their West Bromwich HQ this week.
Second year students from University of Wolverhampton BDes Product Design course together with tutors Jason Fernandes and Henry Watson toured the factory floor and design department as part of a project aimed at giving them a greater understanding of manufacturing methods and techniques.
Over the course of the tour the students gained an insight into some of the specialist plastic fabricator's processes used in the manufacture of plastic parts, components and products, including vacuum forming, CNC routing, laser cut plastics and line bending.
As well as checking out some state-of-the-art kit, the students quizzed the dedicated teams as well Technical Manager Gary Oakley. With a product range from car components to bespoke POS retail display the students learnt more about product design in many sectors. It was also a chance for the company to welcome back Jason and Henry who previously worked for them.
