Northern Polytunnels backs nettles & petals community garden project in Pickering

Pickering, North Yorkshire – April 2025

Northern Polytunnels is proud to support gardening influencer Jamie Walton, better known as Nettles & Petals, with the installation of a new polytunnel for an inspiring ecological community garden project in Pickering.

Jamie, a well-known advocate for ecological growing and food equity, is spearheading the initiative to create a vibrant, biodiverse green space that offers hands-on ecological education and access to organic produce for people of all ages and backgrounds. His approach encourages sustainable gardening practices, including foraging, soil regeneration, and celebrating the nutritional power of plants often overlooked, like edible weeds.

The new EasyBuild polytunnel was designed using our free online configurator, available to any grower, and constructed on site as a collaborative build between Northern Polytunnels and Jamie himself. Built with commercial-grade materials, it offers the strength and durability needed for year-round growing, while being accessible enough for community projects and individuals alike.

“We’re thrilled to support Jamie’s mission,” said a spokesperson for Northern Polytunnels. “His values align perfectly with ours, putting sustainability, accessibility, and ecological integrity at the heart of growing.”

The project is currently calling for community support, from volunteering and tool donations to help with branding and videography. To get involved, follow @nettlesandpetals on Instagram.
