We’re delighted to announce the opening of our brand-new Manchester showroom located in Mosely Street, which is in the heart of the city’s thriving business district and is an area that is synonymous with architects and designers.
The new 2,900sqft showroom is our second in the UK and our first in the north of England, and encompasses two floors of the Calico building, a recently restored former industrial warehouse.
The decision to open a new UK showroom in Manchester was taken due to the rapid growth in demand witnessed in the northern and Scottish markets.
We recruited Scott Douglas as our first Northern Sales Director and his first initiative was to find and open a dedicated showroom in the north with a difference. He has developed a strong team around him, including A&D Manager, Ellie Phillip, Reece Chappell, and more recently, Niamh Kirwin. The team will be focussing on the architectural and design market, while also displaying our Home ranges that are available on the Bisley Shop.
The new space has been created with a relaxed, collaborative feel throughout, maximising the aesthetics of the building’s exposed brick and premium finishes, to showcase our high-quality and innovative furniture solutions.
Scott said: “The opening of the Manchester showroom is an important step for us. Our industry as a whole can sometimes feel very London focussed, but with a rapidly growing customer base in the north, it has always been important for Bisley to be represented in all the areas of the UK where we are witnessing expansion.
“The north of England and Scotland are currently experiencing huge market growth and we want to get ahead of the curve. In particular, we are keen to immerse ourselves in Manchester’s buzzing design and architectural community, and for our northern showroom to have a character and personality that is distinct from our original London showroom. I think we have achieved that, and more.”
The opening of the new Manchester showroom follows a recent relaunch of our Dutch showroom in Tilburg in 2022 and precedes the relaunch of the Dubai showroom in the autumn.
The investment in our UK and global showrooms is part of a wider programme of expansion as we look to consolidate our recent diversification into the domestic interiors market. This is underlined by the creation of a space in the Manchester showroom that is dedicated to our collection of products designed for the home, which has a different aesthetic and ambience to our corporate portfolio.
Our Home space at the Manchester showroom follows the launch of Bisley Home at Clerkenwell Design Week in May, where we showcased our full range of domestic interiors collections and products.
Speaking about the project, Niki Walton, a designer at Smith Bros., the design firm behind the new space said: “When Smith Brothers were approached to help with the design of Bisley’s northern showroom at Calico, Manchester, we were overjoyed. In terms of industrial heritage, this building is the perfect setting to showcase Bisley’s diverse and innovative designs. The brief was to highlight their current product range and to create an engaging destination for designers and their clients.”
Richard Costin, CEO, commented: “Opening in Manchester has been a long-held goal of ours, and what a stunning venue to showcase our products. We loved that, like Bisley, the Calico building has a prestigious and rich history, but has been remodelled and refreshed for a modern, contemporary audience. We’re really excited to be bringing our brand to Manchester and to give our customers a new base to visit.”
