At a grand finale ceremony held at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, PFF were delighted to receive a Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards in the category of Businesses Making a Difference in the Pandemic, sponsored by NHS Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group.
For the first time since the pandemic, the Echo’s Portfolio Awards returned to honour firms that have done the North East region proud. Scores of nominations were received for companies of all different sectors and sizes, across the length and breadth of Wearside.
PFF’s award was collected by Ian Smith (centre), Group Sales Director and Andrew Frith (right), a General Manager at our Washington site. The award was presented by David Chandler (left), from NHS Sunderland CCG.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, we used our expertise in the food sector to meet the increased demand for PPE, as well as continuing to support the UK’s food retail sector through the production and supply of food packaging. Our diversification into healthcare products resulted in the delivery of 360 million polythene aprons to the Department of Health and Social Care.
Ian said: “We are delighted to receive the award and we do so, on behalf of every one of our committed and dedicated staff. I’d like to say a big thank you to our nominator, the award sponsor and to the Sunderland Echo.
PFF began manufacturing polythene aprons in the depth of the pandemic and it’s been an honour to support the DHSC with essential PPE for frontline workers.”
