Power Jacks lift athletes to new heights in Australia

Electro-mechanical specialist, Power Jacks, is helping Australia’s highest performing athletes train more effectively – cementing its position as an exporting powerhouse.

A British product in global demand
Due to the high quality and versatility of its products, the Power Jacks name is in global demand. From its base in Aberdeenshire, the team export jacking systems, precision machining solutions and screw jacks to be used in projects all over the world. As part of a recent project, Power Jacks’ products have been used to provide a world-class training facility for athletes at the Western Australian Institute of Sport.

Developing solutions for unique situations
A central part of the training facility is a 45m mechanical runway, designed and manufactured by Power Jacks. The runway blends into the flooring when flat and, at the push of a button, transforms into a 1.5m ramp. The design maximises training opportunities for pole vault and long jump athletes as they don’t have the inconvenience of a fixed ramp. Using an elevated ramp allows the pole vaulter to generate a greater speed over a shorter distance, meaning they can save their energy for performing the vault.

For optimum safety and performance, it’s critical that the surface remains firm and stable. Power Jacks’ screw jacks act as the perfect solution for this. They offer precision and reliability while being low maintenance, which helps to save on costly repairs or replacements.

The stamp of quality
As well as its innovative approach to unusual projects, there’s another reason Power Jacks stand out in the global marketplace. As long time Made in Britain members, the team has noticed it’s their use of the marque that leads to repeat orders and long-term relationships with customers.

Bruce Hamper, Power Jack’s Marketing Director, is one of Made in Britain’s most enthusiastic advocates. He says: “Increased use of the marque is improving our marketing communications. We’ve just introduced a new MiB image onto our shipping crates so everyone that handles our exports is reminded of our manufacturing excellence, our innovation and world-class quality”
