Shining a light on Made in Britain members collaborating

We were thrilled to hear from Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Company again about their latest collaboration with fellow Made in Britain member, The Soho Lighting Company. In this feature we hear from Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co about how this collaboration came to be and their experience of working with a Made in Britain member.

What was the business need that made you go to the Member Directory to find another manufacturer?

In preparation for International Women's Day and the photographing of our new collection of luxury mattresses, we were searching for a fellow MiB member who could assist in furnishing the set and have a female in a high-ranking management position.

Did you have an existing supplier or was it for a new supplier relationship?

We were searching for a new collaborative relationship.

What advantages have you found of working in collaboration with another member, or members? / How has the collaboration benefited your, and your partner's businesses?

There have been multiple advantages to collaborating with The Soho Lighting Co. and the support is mutually ongoing. For this project, we created fantastic marketing material in celebration of IWD (see a video), and were able to bring a new style of interior design to our photoshoot sets.

We will also be collaborating with The Soho Lighting Co. at this year's Decorex, plus aiming to offer representation for them in January at the Dallas, USA, home interiors trade show. From this collaboration, we've also established an informal working relationship where we both can float ideas and seek guidance from each other regarding British manufacturing and building a family brand.

What advice would you give to other members seeking a collaboration from within Made in Britain membership?

My advice-  just do it- collaborate. It might be for something off the cuff and out of sync with your company's daily operations, but finding that support in a fellow MiB member is worth every moment and offers that feeling of - you're not alone.

We're always delighted to hear from members of Made in Britain who have collaborated and have found each other through the Made in Britain network. If you have collaborated with another Made in Britain member, we would like to feature your story. Please get in touch at info@madeinbritain.org
