Ipswich Garden Oasis
The summer of 2020 became synonymous with the ‘staycation’. Everybody had to stay at home to holiday and as a result, many people across the UK maximised the use of their gardens and outdoor spaces.
But one family from Ipswich were ahead of the game as they had already put plans in place to transform their outdoor living space, and by the time the country was instructed to lockdown, this family was already enjoying their garden transformation and the luxury of being able to ‘holiday at home.’
Case study: The Ipswich Project (Garden Oasis)
In March 2020, Caribbean Blinds installed one of their award-winning Outdoor Living Pods™ (the Deluxe model) in to the garden of a new-build property in Ipswich. This was all part of a plan to create a beautiful garden oasis that could be enjoyed all year round, despite what the British weather might bring!
When was the project started/completed?
The initial contact came from the client’s landscaper in December 2019. In January 2021, the client and the landscaper met for an onsite meeting to discuss all aspects of the clients vision for their garden oasis. The installation took place in March 2020 and the project was completed ready for the client to enjoy the onset of a spring garden.
What was the original customer brief?
The customer had appointed a landscaper to transform their garden in their new build property. A key part of the project was to provide a dedicated zone and covered area for entertaining and unwinding. The area needed to be able to be used all year round and provide flexible shade and shelter. The client wanted to feel they were actually ‘outside’ rather than being in another room away from the property, so the solution had to provide complete exposure to the elements when the weather allowed whilst also protecting the clients when the weather was inclement, be that from rain, snow, wind, cold or adversely, blazing sunshine.
The landscaper recommended our Outdoor Living Pod™ and the client was instantly sold on the products flexibility and all-weather properties, plus the fact it was British made and just a few miles down the road in Sudbury.
How did Caribbean Blinds work with the customer to achieve this?
Following the initial consultation with the landscaper, we designed our Deluxe model Outdoor Living Pod™ into the scheme, to ensure it sat comfortably in the space and worked with the proposed surrounding borders, outdoor kitchen etc. The proposal was put forward to the client and an onsite consultation was carried out to run through all details and finalise all elements. In between the initial proposal and site consultation, the client visited our show site to see the Outdoor Living Pod™’ first hand, including the endless features and benefits.
The client selected the Deluxe model, as it had the generous proportions for entertaining being 6m wide x 4m deep x 2.5m high with a 4m screen on the garden side to shield from low level sunlight. To achieve a contemporary look and durable design, they selected Anthracite Grey RAL 7016 matt fine textured finish for the aluminium structure and added LED dimmable lighting for ambience and infra-red radiant heating for instant warmth.
After sign-off, we liaised with both the landscaper and end client to ensure a seamless integration of our structure within the garden design and around other trades. The end result? A perfect integration of our structure in a beautifully designed garden that provides a shady oasis for the clients to relax, entertain or unwind with friends, family or by themselves, all year round.
