The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is a modern university in the thriving city of Bristol.
It is one of Britain’s most popular universities, with more than 30,000 students and 3,000 staff and is the largest provider of higher education in the southwest of England.
Students come to UWE Bristol from all parts of the UK, as well as a significant number of international students from over 140 countries worldwide. The university has three campuses across Bristol.
Like every university, UWE Bristol is keen on updating its buildings to ensure they are running as efficiently as possible.
The university was looking for an LED RGBW colour changing solution to light up a walkway. Having worked together before, Dextra Group were approached to deliver this solution. LEDextra are the RGBW specialists of Dextra Group and worked alongside contractor GRAHAM.
Dextra specified Pharos lighting controls for this project. Pharos is an award-winning and independently owned British manufacturer of dynamic lighting control solutions for architecture, themed entertainment, and other specialist industries. Pharos have adopted a self-sufficient approach and produce their hardware, firmware and software in house, supplied with a comprehensive 5 year warranty.
Using these controls enabled the use of colour sequencing, including colours moving across the line of fittings. The Pharos Expert range was commissioned by Darren Parlby of Oakcroft Technical Ltd, who works with LEDextra on a regular basis.
