Envirotect says it has seen a significant increase in requirements for its lead vinyl material and has trademarked Enviro-Flexx as a brand name. It is part of a range of shielding products manufactured by Envirotect, and is stocked in lead equivalents of 0.35mm and 0.50mm. Other lead equivalents are available although minimum quantities and lead times may apply. It is available by the roll or can be cut to size.
The company says the UK government has set a requirement for all major airports to introduce 3D baggage screening equipment before the end of 2022. Similar to CT systems used in the hospitals, the scanners will increase security and speed up pre-boarding checks. Enviro-Flexx curtains can be manufactured in sizes to suit most security scanners and punched with holes or slots for installation. “This could mean in future passengers may be able to keep liquids and electrical equipment like laptops in their cabin baggage while it is screened,” said managing director Niven Smith.
