West Mercia Police have just started to issue all of its police dogs with body armour further to one of the force's dogs being stabbed in the chest in 2017.
Manufactured by UK based Defence Composites, the canine body armour harness was developed for police dogs that require the same protection as their handlers.
This particular model is called the Tornado and is lightweight, allows free movement and has an Outlast® lining that keeps the dog cool.
Protective panels are inserted into the harness, protecting the dog's vital organs from knives, needles, bullets and blunt objects.
