Product Description

Newbuild Medium Cement Free is a dry ready mixed lime mortar for general building and pointing work. Available in the colour tan.

Engineered with precision, utilising natural hydraulic lime, natural sands, and additives to enhance physical and mechanical characteristics to create a high-performance mortar. Designed to meet the demands of contemporary construction, Newbuild Cement Free was designed to achieve the same strengths as modern 1:2:9 mortars whilst maintaining a traditional or heritage aesthetic. Available as standard with Saint-Astier® NHL5. Other binders and mix ratios are available upon request.

Well-suited for stonework or brickwork applications that require a lime mortar free of cement but with a strength similar to modern 1:2:9 mortars.

  • Contains no Portland Cement
  • Features the aesthetic of a heritage mortar
  • No pigments to prevent colour fading
  • Features a refined tan colour after finishing
  • Minimised likelihood of shrinkage cracking
  • A slower drying time improves curing
  • Supports sustainable building practices
  • Faster strength development than a typical NHL mortar
  • Enhanced workability for those behind the trowel

Area of use

Suitable for internal or external use, where the binder strength is appropriate for the host background or surface.

Newbuild Medium Cement Free is suitable for general building and pointing work applications. Appropriate for various project types, including contemporary newbuild or sustainable construction. Need a more traditional lime mortar? Explore Drymix Medium for additional breathability and flexibility.

A 25kg bag will produce approximately 15 litres of mortar and fill roughly 1.2-1.5m² of joint at a 10mm depth or can lay roughly 25 standard bricks. The width and depth of the joint will influence this estimation. On-site trials are advised for the best yield indication for your specific project.

As natural products, our kiln-dried sands may exhibit variations in colour, texture, and shape. While these variations are minimal, when colour consistency is crucial, we strongly advise each elevation is completed using material from the same batch.

Supplied in 25kg polythene-lined and colour and batch-code paper bags for easy identification on-site and palletised for ease of transport, storage, and handling. FIBC tonne bags are also available.
