Made in Britain members will have been delighted to see the BBC’s leading daily politics show, Politics Live, using the Made in Britain trademark and mission statement throughout the majority of Tuesday’s coverage of Sir Ed Davey’s leaders’ speech.
While we would like to think that some BBC2 viewers will have watched the hour-long politics programme thinking that the show was using Made in Britain’s trademark they were actually using our exhibition stand as the backdrop for the show.
John Pearce, Made in Britain’s CEO said "We attend the Party Conferences to raise awareness of Made in Britain, the Trademark and our members but we certainly did not expect the BBC to raise awareness of the trademark further. The BBC using us as the backdrop was the unexpected icing on the cake of an already successful show. We had encouraged lots of the new and not-so-new Lib Dems MPs to support and engage with their local manufacturers. Thanks to the BBC we have now exposed the trademark to the many viewers of their popular daytime politics show."
Other news outlets might be approached next week, to see if they will be featuring the stand when we attend the Labour and Conservative over the coming weeks.
