British clean-tech pioneer Sunswap expands into Europe with major partners TIP Group and DLG

Surrey-based manufacturer scales zero-emission transport refrigeration technology across European markets through strategic partnerships

British engineering company Sunswap is accelerating its European expansion through a major partnership with TIP Group, one of Europe's leading equipment services providers, launching long-term trials of its zero-emission transport refrigeration technology with Daily Logistics Group (DLG), a leading logistics partner specialising in multimodal conditioned transport across Europe.

The collaboration showcases how British-manufactured innovation is transforming European cold chain operations. Sunswap Endurance, designed and built at the company's Surrey facility, uniquely combines advanced battery technology with integrated solar power. TIP Group has leased the trailer to DLG as the logistics firm puts this British zero-emission technology through its paces across demanding long-distance European routes.

The pilot demonstrates how Sunswap's proven technology, already validated through 16 UK customers, is now ready for European-scale operations through strategic partnerships with established continental logistics leaders.

Ingmar Coppoolse, Manager Fleet, Claims & HESQ, DLG said: "DLG is thrilled to be part of this exciting trial with TIP and Sunswap. We believe that pioneering technologies like Sunswap's are key to unlocking lower emissions throughout European FMCG transportation. Removing diesel powered refrigeration from road haulage represents a huge opportunity for emissions reduction, and we look forward to demonstrating to our peers that there are clear pathways to cleaner technologies that will significantly reduce our sector's environmental impact."

Sunswap Endurance features solar panels fitted to the trailer roof. Combined with modular batteries and a highly energy-efficient system designed in Britain, it provides high-performance zero-emission refrigeration. Based on data from multiple UK operations and Sunswap's advanced analytics, Endurance has demonstrated up to 81% savings on operating costs compared to traditional diesel refrigeration, transforming both environmental impact and financial performance for fleets.

Each British-built Sunswap unit eliminates significant CO2 across its lifetime - equivalent to removing 26 cars from the road for a year - while producing zero NOx emissions and particulate matter that affect local air quality. The trailer-mounted solar panels extend range while reducing grid charging needs, generating up to 85% of required energy annually with free solar power.

"We're proud to extend our partnership with DLG, leveraging Sunswap's innovative refrigeration system to meet their sustainability and efficiency targets," said Rogier Laan, Vice President Sales and Marketing at TIP Group. "With over 16,000 refrigerated trailers in our lease and rental fleet, TIP plays an important role in reducing climate impact by testing and evaluating best practices for sustainable transportation. Our goal is to eliminate diesel use in new refrigerated trailers and lead the way in implementing environmentally friendly technology in the transport sector."

Michael Lowe, Chief Executive Officer, Sunswap, said: "This expanded partnership with TIP Group marks a new chapter in Sunswap's European journey. As we scale our UK manufacturing operation to meet growing European demand, this partnership with TIP and DLG demonstrates how British engineering excellence is setting new standards for sustainable refrigerated transport across Europe, delivering environmental benefits without operational compromise."
