British Design Company wins Sustainability Award

Award-winning Product Design company wins Sustainability Award.

Design Reality, a Made In Britain company based in St Asaph, North Wales, has won a STEM Sustainability Award, in recognition of their contribution to sustainability in the field of Science, Tech, Engineering and Mathematics. 

Design Reality won the STEM Sustainability Award for its ground-breaking reusable half-mask respirator design. The only healthcare specific reusable half-mask respirator, the design features a unique two-way filtering system to provide the same level of protection as disposable masks, without the associated waste. 

The Wales STEM awards covered a range of different categories, celebrating businesses making an impact on the Welsh economy, the STEM diversity gap, the STEM skills shortage and those inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Design Reality was one of many STEM companies shortlisted for their innovative commitment and development in the field, from across Wales. Other notable award winners on the night included the University of South Wales and Swansea University.

This new award marks the 6th award Design Reality has won in the past two years, including:

  • Muse – Gold Award Winner in Safety Design
  • Muse – Silver Award Winner in COVID-19 Related Design
  • Muse – Gold Award Winner in Safety Design
  • BSIF – Product Innovation Award
  • Red Dot – Product Design Excellence
  • Wales STEM – Sustainability Award
