Cottam supports local film production as North East talent takes centre stage

Cottam Brush Ltd was proud to support the latest production by True Moon Pictures, A Woman of Good Abilities, as filming took place last week at its Hebburn-based factory.

The film, written by Gateshead’s Dr. Mark Chapman and produced by Sunderland's Carley Armstrong, is executive produced by filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond. Showcasing the strength of the region’s creative sector, the production is a celebration of Northern talent and investment, with an impressive commitment to local engagement:

  • 100% working-class cast and crew
  • 98% of the team originally from the North
  • 94% from the North East
  • 100% of production suppliers based in the North East
  • 100% North East filming locations
  • 97% of the budget spent within the region

The cast includes acclaimed actors such as:

Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point, Sherlock, The Lazarus Project)
James Nelson Joyce (This City Is Ours, 1000 Blows, The Responder)
Colin R. Campbell (Downton Abbey, The Englishman, Unforgotten)

Cottam, a company with deep regional roots, was delighted to offer its space for filming and contribute to a project that highlights the North East’s growing presence in the UK film industry.

“Supporting local business and creativity is part of who we are,” said Chelsie Brown, Marketing Manager at Cottam. “It was an honour to host the A Woman of Good Abilities production team, and even more exciting that some of our team members got the chance to appear on screen as extras.”

The film is expected to draw attention not only for its gripping narrative and strong performances but also for its dedication to authentic regional storytelling and economic contribution.

Cottam looks forward to the film’s release and the spotlight it will shine on the talent and potential of the North East.
