Dextra Group's commitment to UK manufacturing

DEXTRA Group plc has been committed to manufacturing in the UK for over 40 years, never shifting its emphasis from the importance of producing quality lighting products on home soil, to deliver a fast, efficient and effective service for its clients. The company’s ongoing commitment to ‘Made in Britain’ will help to boost the economy, promote innovation, reduce its carbon footprint and supply local jobs, even while others have been turning to cheaper foreign imports.

Dextra Group plc and its employees are committed to minimising the environmental impacts of its business operations.

As the largest privately-owned lighting manufacturer in the country, designing and manufacturing lighting products, both standard and bespoke, from its purpose-built factory in North Dorset, distributing them via its own fleet of vehicles and offering a recycling service to clients in line with current WEEE legislation as a registered AATF.

Over 95 per cent of collected products are recycled or reused, ensuring that harmful chemicals such as mercury are disposed of correctly. Not only does this reduce landfill disposal, but also reduces the energy required to produce future materials.

Virtually all recycling collections are made by Dextra Group vehicles on a ‘back load’ meaning that instead of returning with an empty load, it will stop off and made a collection. This effectively halves the amount of carbon pollution caused by the transportation of the end of life luminaires.

To further reduce the company’s environmental impact and carbon footprint, Dextra Group has installed solar panels on the roof of its manufacturing facility, generating power for both operational function and manufacturing equipment but also for charging the selection of hybrid vehicles in the company fleet.
