Owned and operated by the Warwickshire County Council, Eliot Park Innovation Centre is a state-of-the-art business centre providing flexible office space to support start-up, emerging and established companies.
The award-winning centre offers convenient yet contemporary office spaces which are perfect to meet all everyday business needs. Located close to Nuneaton town centre, Eliot Park Innovation Centre offers a range of facilities for their customers including conference suites, an onsite café and a business club.
Warwickshire County Council wanted to refurbish the offices, meeting rooms and corridors in the innovation centre to make them more attractive to potential clients, whilst helping to promote the business.
The council was looking for a lighting manufacturer that could provide a quick turnaround for the refurbishment project so spaces would be available to lease as soon as possible. Energy saving was also high on the agenda so Dextra introduced its Reacta Link wireless control sensors to offer easy adaption to the existing layout and also incorporated an emergency reporting system to help manage the building whilst providing a platform to make maintenance in the building easier for the future. Here, T5 fittings were removed, and new LED lighting complete with sensors installed. Dextra is one of the council’s preferred lighting manufacturers and already has a good working relationship with the local authority.
THE SOLUTION
The Rubix Suspended Bi-Direction was chosen for use in the offices, meeting rooms and break-out areas. The unique style of the Rubix with its 50/50 lighting distribution gave a nice feel and also provided strong UGR values, helping keep glare to a minimum. These were provided with EA sensors and wireless switches for each room.
Also, emergency versions were installed using the STR Reacta Link web-based self-test reporting system, allowing the council to simply print off test reports and send onto the internal clients. This removes the disruption created during manual testing, and also offers easily accessible test information that can be passed onto insurance companies. In total, 16 were used in continuous runs (L60 BD), 41 in Standalone (38 x L60 BD / 3 x L40 BD).
Rubix Wall was supplied in a silver finish in the circulation corridors with sensors linked wirelessly to dim when unoccupied and aid a smooth transition back to 100% when someone enters the corridor.
Elsewhere, 14 Protec LED’s were supplied to improve aesthetics in the reception area and provide an IP rated luminaire for the toilets, with five being emergency versions using the PTC D1100 STR.
In the toilets there was a requirement for a wall mounted fitting that could be utilised in the spaces left by the old luminaires, so 4 Amenity Decorative LED’s were chosen as the ideal replacement.
Offering the silver finish specified by the council, 17 Rubix Wall luminaires were supplied for use in the circulation corridor. The council liked the ease of use offered by EA, so the new luminaires were linked via wireless control and were programmed to dim when the area was unoccupied, providing a smooth transition back to 100% brightness when anyone enters the corridor.
Also, selected for its wireless reporting testing capability, the LED4 STR was used in all areas of the building with 10 installed in total.
The LED 4 STR is a surface mounted emergency LED which can incorporate open area or corridor 3W LED’s, available in white or 30% gloss black finish.
Dextra’s EXI LED LSTR’s were installed over all the exit doors.
For the reception area, 2 OAT LED LSTR’s were installed, once again also providing wireless testing and reporting. The OAT LED LSTR is a recessed LED luminaire available with a reeded diffuser or with an optional LED hanging legend making it ideal to provide lighting or signage for emergency escape routes and exits. The recessed installation allows this luminaire to be as discreet as possible, while the option of either maintained or non-maintained operation allows for its use in a wide range of applications.
