#LIVE Factory Tours at Focus SB and Extex

Following the success of #madeinbritainhour #LIVE at Excell Metal Spinning, Made in Britain members, Focus SB and Extex, welcomed us to their factories for some more #LIVE tours.

Based at St Leonards-on-Sea, Focus SB manufacture top quality electrical wiring accessories, like socket and switch plates.  These are highly sought after by prestigious architects and interior designers for high-end residential projects, luxury hotels and commercial interiors, in the UK and globally.

Focus opened their doors to us on the day hurricane Doris hit. Chris, the Production Manager, took us round their factory and gave us an insight into Focus’s bespoke capabilities and exceptional finishes, many of which are still done by hand.

You can view the Periscope factory tour here.

Last week we visited Marina Mill, the Kent home of Extex luxury outdoor fabrics.  This family business has been designing and hand printing textiles for over 30 years and is now run by brother and sister team Guy and Tandine Rollings.

They took us through the fascinating process of hand printing their waterproof fabrics, starting in the art studio with the creation of the designs and following the journey from setting up the screen print, mixing the paints, pinning the fabric to 28 foot tables and then the hand printing process itself. View the Perisope factory tour here.

We want our #live Periscope factory tours to stimulate interest in the manufacturing industry whilst proving that factories can be fun places to work, offer quality employment prospects and help tell the marketing story of our members.

All of our factory tours can be viewed here. If you want to showcase your factory in one of our future #live shows, then please get in touch: fiona@madeingb.org
