A month on from publishing the first-ever British Manufacturing Barometer, Made in Britain is pleased to reflect on positive feedback from a wide range of stakeholders. Major UK political parties, business representative organisations, financial institutions, think tanks and other key entities within the manufacturing industry have all responded favourably. The Barometer's impact and relevance have also been highlighted in coverage by The Manufacturer and Manufacturing and Engineering Magazine.
One notable example of feedback came via Made in Britain’s Parliamentary engagement and a recent online session with Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea, hosted by Policy Connect. During this hour-long Q&A session, Lord Bilimoria, Chair of the UK’s Manufacturing Commission, shared his insights on the priorities for UK manufacturing for the incoming government. He thanked Made in Britain for the optimistic figures presented in the British Manufacturing Barometer, highlighting Made in Britain, its members and the UK's achievements in manufacturing.
Published in June, the Barometer presented UK manufacturing companies’ current voices and views on the economy and industry. More than 100 companies directly contributed – all from within Made in Britain’s growing membership, now over 2,000 companies. The Barometer includes perspectives on the performance of the UK economy and manufacturing sector, as well as insights on company growth (recent and projected), exports, and supply chains. It covers awareness of government initiatives such as Help to Grow, Smarter Regulation, and international trade support.
Made in Britain aims for the Barometer to be a valuable tool for UK manufacturing companies and all those interested in the sector’s success.
The second version of the Barometer will be published at the end of the summer, with a focus on the environment and society.
