Made in Britain meets with His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe

Made in Britain’s CEO, John Pearce, met with His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe, Chris Barton, in advance of Made in Britain’s session on ‘exporting to Europe’ to take place on 21 May.  If you are a Made in Britain member and haven’t already signed up for the session, please register here.

The meeting took place to discuss the opportunities in Europe for UK manufacturers, as well as the support available from the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

Made in Britain member Home Decor joined the call, to offer the direct perspectives of a UK manufacturing company.

Europe continues to be the UK’s largest export market.  In 2022, the UK exported £340 billion of goods and services to the EU.  42% of total UK exports.  This was also reflected in Made in Britain’s 2023 export survey, which highlighted Europe as by far the most active export region for Made in Britain members.

Chris leads a team of over 300 DBT staff in 34 countries across the continent.  He and his team’s responsibilities include:

> improving market access for UK companies in Europe
> encouraging UK exports to Europe
