After the success of two previous pop-up shops in Newcastle and Leeds John Lewis stores, Newcastle based women’s activewear brand YANA™ Active are set to launch their new sustainable collection from 31st May in Newcastle’s John Lewis Store.
The sister-duo founded the luxury women’s activewear brand in December 2019 to empower women by designing and manufacturing unique activewear pieces in the UK. Their aim is to empower their tribe of ‘Everyday Warriors’ and enhance the concept of multi-functional and fashionable activewear.
“2020 was not the first year we expected or envisioned for YANA” said Co-Founder Sophie Wilson. “We planned to visit several large fitness events across the country to showcase YANA™ but Covid quickly halted that. Instead we had to focus on our online presence and find ways to engage with our customers, whilst designing new products in the background”
YANA Active’s products are all designed in-house by co-founder Charlotte, manufactured in the North East and their 1.0 Collection have leggings that contain specialist technology that helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
“The new 2.0 Collection is a big leap for YANA™ with the introduction of recycled fabrics and pieces manufactured in facilities using renewable energy.
“Manufacturing in the UK was a conscious decision when launching YANA™ as we want to do our bit to help the environment. Introducing recycled fabric into our collection is the next logical step for YANA™ and something we’ve had planned for a while”. Said YANA™ Co-founder Charlotte Wilson.
“The fabric used for our new stretchwear is recycled nylon. Waste items such as fishing nets are rescued, sorted and cleaned; they are then subject to a regenerative process and the material is processed into yarns. We then use this material to manufacture our stretchwear.” Said Co-founder Sophie Wilson.
At YANA™ we bring like-minded women together to empower one another, but now we can help our customers make conscious fashion choices that are good for the environment. ” said YANA Co-Founder Charlotte Wilson.
YANA Active will have a pop-up shop on the first floor opposite Ori Café in John Lewis Newcastle branch from Monday 31st May to Sunday 6th June.
