QuickWorks helps ProPlastix achieve over 50% growth and boosts productivity

ProPlastix Limited, a leading player in the plastic manufacturing industry, based in Dorset, has made a strategic investment in QuickWorks MRP manufacturing control software. This move has proven to be a major advantage for the manufacturer, helping them to secure 50% growth in revenue, requiring them to expand into new premises. Thanks to the system, they have been able to process more orders more efficiently by significantly reducing the amount of administration time and by gaining huge improvements in control, visibility and responsiveness.

Tom Boreham, Operations Director, comments “QuickWorks has helped us improve productivity and control everything better by bringing things all together in one system”

With over 35 years’ plastics experience, ProPlastix, are ideally placed to offer their customers turnkey solutions for plastic moulded parts and assemblies, from initial concept, product design and development to tooling design and manufacture, through to component production and assembly.

Tom explains, “before using QuickWorks we were juggling between spreadsheets, which was problematic because it was time consuming and easy to make errors, which led to problems further down the line.”

Other advantages of the system have seen the ProPlastix improve their supplier on-time delivery performance by 36% and reduce the scrap rate by over 10% thanks to the enhanced control offered by QuickWorks.

A system that could provide major improvements in productivity, whilst still being easy to use, was pivotal in improving the operational performance and responsiveness for ProPlastix. “Our favourite feature of QuickWorks is the Dashboard. You can see all the different stages from Quotes, Purchase Orders, Manufacturing Jobs and Non-Conformances all on one screen” explains Tom.

Quality compliance and automatic material traceability is another valuable area that the manufacturer benefits from, enabling them to secure new business in industries with exacting quality standards.  Tom adds, “we also like the full traceability that QuickWorks provides. Being able to track the cost of materials and where those materials end up being used is a huge time saver”.

ProPlastix were impressed with the UK-based support and how easy to use the system was, especially compared to overly complex and expensive alternatives from other venders. Tom concludes “We were initially hesitant to use an MRP system because we were worried about complexity and having to input all our data manually. We had also trialled a different system and within 3 days it became apparent that it was far too complicated. We then trialled QuickWorks and we found it was extremely easy to use, which meant we could get going very quickly. We like that the support is based in the UK and always on hand to help”.
