On 21 May, Made in Britain delivered an online networking event led by Made in Britain members Home Decor and Mantle Packaging, focused on exporting to Europe.
The Department for Business and Trade’s Europe team also attended, with a representative dialling in from the UK Embassy in Prague, to offer their perspectives and support with any follow-up or signposting.
Europe continues to be the UK’s largest export market. In 2022, the UK exported £340 billion of goods and services to the EU. 42% of total UK exports. This was also reflected in Made in Britain’s 2023 export survey, which highlighted Europe as by far the most active export region for Made in Britain members.
Circa 30 Made in Britain members registered with an interest in exporting to Europe, to listen, discuss and ask questions about:
• Finding an export or sales agent
• Tried and tested shipping and logistic providers
• Regulation, including CBAM (Cross-Border Adjustment Mechanism) and GPSR (General Product Safety)
Home Decor and Mantle Packaging shared their companies’ direct experiences, challenges and opportunities in Europe.
Home Decor was represented by Patrycja Greathead, International Sales Manager. Home Decor is based in Sheffield and has been a member of Made in Britain since January 2023.
Managing Director Laura Sieczkowski spoke for Mantle Packaging. The manufacturer is based in Lancashire and has been a member since May 2015.
The session was hosted by Made in Britain’s CEO, John Pearce, and facilitated by Advisor to Made in Britain and Director at MAP UK & International, George Middleton. It took place as part of Made in Britain’s International Trade Programme and as follow-up to a meeting with His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe last month.
